Ejurahene bids emotional farewell to Grandmother and former Ejura Queen, Nana Akosua Akyama

With great sadness, the Ejura Divisional Council said goodbye to their beloved former Queen Mother, Nana Akosua Akyamaa, under the leadership of Ejurahene Barimah Osei Hwedie II.

Before her death on June 24, 2024, the renowned Queen, who was born in 1916, led an astonishing life that lasted more than a century.

On Saturday, November 30, 2024, the last burial ceremonies for Nana Akosua Akyamaa were held in the Ejura Palace forecourt.

The event brought hundreds of traditional leaders, prominent politicians, security personnel, locals, and supporters to Ejura.

A memorial service and a variety of cultural exhibits were conducted in the late Queen’s honor.

A poignant homage to his grandmother was given by Ejurahene Barimah Osei Hwedie II, the deceased’s maternal grandson.

In addition to being a personal loss, he recognized that her death was a serious setback to Ejura’s traditional architecture.

The Ejurahene commended Nana Akosua Akyamaa for her generosity, sense of patriotism, and outstanding leadership style, which helped mold dozens of people into well-known Ghanaian leaders.

Barimah Osei Hwedie II thanked the Almighty God for providing Nana Akosua Akyamaa to the Ejura Asona Royal Family, calling her a blessing to the family.
