The presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama has stated that “Literally and figuratively, the government Economic Management Team has displayed grave incompetence, mismanaged Ghana’s economy and inflicted severe hardships on Ghanaians including the elderly and the young. Ghanaians now know the address of the so-called “solid economic management team.” The Chairman of the EMT has become the butt of jokes in people’s homes, in the markets, in restaurants, on social media, and on the airwaves because of their misguided commentaries both in opposition and government”.

In light of how the administration is managing Ghana’s economy, former president John Mahama has made fun of the team, claiming that they have lost all credibility in Ghanaian society.

He claimed that in addition to mismanaging the economy, the team had also caused great problems for Ghanaians of all ages.

After being chosen as the NDC’s 2024 flagbearer, the NDC flagbearer gave his acceptance speech in Tamale on Monday.

He asserted that a leader should be characterized by truth, integrity, and honesty, qualities he claimed the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia-led administration lacked.

The former President said, “As a leader, your words should be truthful, it should be sincere and honest, it should count for something if you’re not truthful, you lose the trust of the people.”

In order to preserve the country from the NPP regime, Mr. Mahama stated that he would run in the 2024 elections. He urged Ghanaians to join him in this effort.

The event was held at the University for Development Studies, and prominent members of the party, including the National Chairman, General Secretary, Council of Elders of the NDC, Members of Parliament, National, Regional, and Constituency Executives, as well as the former President’s family and party supporters, attended.
