Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Hajia Abibata Shanni Mahama Zakariah, has responded to the NPP’s National Executive Council’s (NEC) endorsement of Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama as the party’s parliamentary candidate for the Yendi constituency.

Hajia Abibata expressed shock and dissatisfaction in a press release dated April 9, 2024, over the NEC’s decision to validate Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama, her main rival, for the Yendi parliamentary elections in 2024.

Although she expressed her disapproval of the ruling, she eventually conceded to it for the sake of the party and its officials, namely President H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the party’s presidential candidate, H.E. Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia.

She bemoaned, nevertheless, that she thought the party leadership had treated her unfairly, highlighting the disregard for natural justice.

Notwithstanding her complaints, Hajia Abibata graciously acknowledged the outcome and thanked the delegates and people of Yendi for their steadfast support throughout the January 27, 2024, parliamentary elections.
