The balloting date for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) remaining flagbearer candidates has been changed.

Just a day after Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen withdrew from the presidential race, this choice was made.

The election committee pondered on the four candidates’ proposals while speaking with them and their representatives.

The meeting ended without a decision following these private discussions, therefore the balloting was postponed.

Alexander Afenyo Markin, a spokesman for the committee, stated that the party’s rules would be followed in the conduct of the election on November 4.

He did not, however, go into detail about the specific topics that were discussed.

“We have agreed to proceed with the guidelines. And like I said, when we are done, we will again serve you notice of the guidelines and soon thereafter we will proceed with the balloting,” he said.

The worries expressed by Alan in his letter on Tuesday night were crucial among the queries asked by the media.

Mr. Afenyo Markin stated that the committee is awaiting additional information from his team to support his claims.

The committee forbade the candidates from speaking to the media in the meantime.

It’s interesting to note that one of the candidates, Kennedy Agyapong, left through a different entrance to avoid being captured on camera by the media.

These and other elements suggest that this meeting and its effects will be clouded by tension.
