The New Patriotic Party (NPP), according to the deputy minority whip, is the driving force behind Samuel Ofosu-campaign Ampofo’s to keep his position as the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Mr. Ahmed Ibrahim claims that the NPP is pushing for Mr. Ofosu Ampofo to keep his position so that he may carry out NPP directives.

He said that this is due to their concern about the actions that the Johnson Asiedu Nketia-led party, also known as General Mosquito, will do in 2024.

“As I speak to you if the NPP together with Ofosu-Ampofo are fighting Asiedu Nketia, then it tells you that Asiedu Nketia is fighting Ofosu-Ampofo and NPP at the same time. It tells you that he has something under his sleeves and clearly it presupposes that Ofosu-Ampofo is going to do the bidding for NPP and that is why the NPP are campaigning for him. Why is it so? They want a weaker leader so that they can break their eight,” Hon Ibrahim stated.

He claimed that the NDC delegates are intelligent, though, and won’t just stand by and cast their votes for him.

“The delegates have made a decision as I talk to you. Forget about the so-called this man because everyone is so silent and the grass roots are so ready for 2024 with Johnson Asiedu Nketia as the leader”.

The 137 NDC MPs who are significant participants in the election on Saturday are the subject of a fierce competition since it is a national delegate election.

According to Ahmed Ibrahim, just nine MPs are siding with the current chairman while Johnson Asiedu has the support of the majority of the Minority Caucus in Parliament.

”Out of the 137, Ofosu-Ampofo has only nine. They’re nine and we have their names. They have created a platform and they’re only nine. If out of 137 you have created a platform and you have only nine MPs on it. It presupposes that you don’t have the numbers here. As of this morning, they collapsed it. Asiedu Nketia has already won. Out of 137 you have only nine members. 137 minus nine, look at the numbers that are rooting for Asiedu Nketia,” he stated.

He went on to say that the NDC under the leadership of Ofosu-Ampofo would be devastating for the party’s chances of gaining power in 2024.

Mr. Ibrahim Ahmed continued by saying that Asiedu Nketia is supported by those who “need power,” including the NDC MPs and the grassroots.

Compared to the party’s current National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, in his opinion, has assisted the NDC party in capturing several seats across a number of areas.
