Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, a Member of Parliament (MP) for Suame Constituency and former Majority Leader, has generously donated GH ¢150,000.00 to the #HealKomfoAnokye Project with his spouse.

The project, led by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is one of his legacy initiatives that aims to renovate the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH)’s block, which hasn’t altered much since it was founded in 1955.

Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu praised the Asantehene for his initiative and encouraged other Ghanaians to support the cause at a brief ceremony to give the money.

“We are privileged to witness the leadership of our King, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, in championing this noble initiative. As proud citizens of Asanteman, we stand firmly behind this project. That is why my wife and I are contributing our part to support this worthy cause,” Kyei Mensah stated.

Upon receiving the kind contribution, Professor Otchere Addai-Mensah, CEO of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), expressed his sincere thanks. In addition, he promised to maintain openness on how the donation was used.

Numerous people and businesses have supported the effort by donating their widow’s mite.

The immediate past Majority Leader in Parliament has also been very proactive in seeking to assist the Heal Komfo Anokye project to receive the necessary waivers so that contributions and donations can be applied directly to obtaining quality materials for the sake of this project which has enormous public benefits.

The purpose of this Heal Komfo Anokye project is to address the urgent need for infrastructural improvement in Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Ghana’s second-largest teaching hospital which receives referrals from 12 out of the 16 Regions of Ghana.

Despite its reputation for providing quality and affordable healthcare services and conducting groundbreaking research, KATH faces serious infrastructural challenges that affect service delivery to patients, visitors, and staff.

The Asantehene 25th Anniversary Legacy Projects, as part of its impact mission, is mobilising resources and funding to implement a comprehensive solution that will improve Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital’s (KATH) infrastructure and ensure that it continues to provide a more functional and efficient hospital environment that promotes healing, comfort, and safety for the people of Ashanti Region and beyond.
