Former National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Organizer Joshua Hamidu Akamba has launched a harsh attack on the New Patriotic Party (NPP), claiming that they are unable to win a landslide in Ghanaian elections without using electoral fraud.

Akamba expressed his worries about the recent loss of computers and registration kits from the Electoral Commission in a heated discussion on Accra’s Ahotor 92.3 FM. He suggested these occurrences may be a part of a bigger NPP plot to rig the election outcomes of the next general elections in 2024.

Highlighting the NDC’s impressive performance in taking eight out of ten regions, Akamba called attention to the contentious outcomes of the 2020 elections.

Despite this, he maintained that electoral malpractice led to the NPP’s declaration of victory, blaming vote-rigging as the main cause of their triumph.

Akamba underlined the need of grassroots mobilization and asked the NDC leadership to maintain vigilance in the run-up to the 2024 elections. He emphasized that the NDC’s chances of winning elections depend on the work of party members at the local level, calling on branch executives to band together and put in endless effort.

Akamba emphasized that branches are essential to winning elections and demanded more funding and assistance to fortify grassroots initiatives. He emphasized the necessity of party members’ unanimity and commitment, stressing that the NDC’s route to victory rests on the combined efforts of its grassroots supporters.

“NPP can never win an election in this country unless they steal, how can the NDC lose the 2020 elections when we won 8 regions out of the 10 then but the NPP won only 2 regions but was declared winners, they rigged that election and we won’t allow it to happened again,” he said.

As the political landscape in Ghana intensifies in anticipation of the upcoming elections, Akamba’s remarks underscore the challenges and tensions surrounding electoral integrity and the imperative for robust grassroots mobilization within political parties.
