A scrap dealer has been placed into police detention after allegedly stealing an iPhone 14 Pro Max worth GHc22k that belonged to the American rapper Meek Mill.
On January 4, 2023, Sulley was brought before the Circuit Court (9) in Accra, which was presided over by His Honor Mr. Samuel Bright Aquah. Sulley entered a not-guilty plea to the allegation of theft.
His defense attorneys had requested bail, but the prosecution objected to the request.
The hearing was postponed until January 17 as the judge ordered the prosecution to submit disclosures after remanding the accused.
According to the summary of the case’s facts given before the court by Chief Inspect Maxwell Oppong, Akwasi Agyeman, the CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, is the subject of the complaint.
He claims that the defendant, Nuhu Sulley, is a scrap dealer who resides in Madina and that, on December 29, 2017, the complainant organized a musical event at Independence Square in Accra that included the American rapper Meek Mill as the featured performer.
According to him, the accused, who was present in the audience, snatched the guest performer’s phone at around 8:20 p.m. on the same day as he was navigating the dense throng to the stage.
The prosecution values the iPhone 14 Pro Max mobile phone at GHC 22,000.00.
He claimed that the accused fled the area after being successful in taking the cellphone.
According to the prosecution, the complainant reported the incident to the police the same day, and based on police information, the phone was tracked and located to the accused’s Madina apartment.
According to the prosecution, the accused was taken into custody on December 30th, 2017, together with the phone. During the course of the investigation, the accused acknowledged to the crime; as a result, he was charged with the crime and brought before this honorable court.
