Residents of Ejura in the Ejura-Sekyedumase Municipality of the Ashanti Region claim that Barima Osei Hwedie II, the Divisional Chief of the Ejura Traditional Area, has met all of their demands during his first eight years in power.

The multiple construction initiatives undertaken by Ejurahene and the traditional council have so been hailed as unequaled by the locals.

Reminiscing about the first eight years of Barimah Osei Hwedie II’s administration, the locals stated the chief had outperformed their expectations and that they had been astounded by his efforts to bring the entire Ejura enclave together.

They contend that Barima Osei Hwedie II’s accomplishments since taking office as the chief of Ejura in 2015 merit recognition since he has established an unmatched record of success in less than eight years.

On Saturday, June 10,2023, the locals spoke exclusively to Jacob Agyenim Boateng of Ghanatodayonline.com about the chief’s profound influence on their quality of life as a result of significant construction projects.

Residents who spoke with Ghanatodayonline praised Ejurahene for his dedication to maintaining harmony and peace in the community.

They observed that Barima Osei Hwedie II has done a great job of putting an end to the fratricide disputes that used to hinder the development of Ejura.

They observed that Ejurahene’s leadership style has created a strong sense of belonging among all groups, including ethnic, social, and political ones, acting as a beacon of cooperation and forward movement in the region.

Speaking about some of the numerous development initiatives undertaken by the Barimah Osei Hwedie II-led Ejura Traditional Area, residents claimed that the Ejura-Sekyedumase Municipality has provided a seven-bedroom apartment for doctors employed at the Ejura Government Hospital and has released a 20-acre plot of land for the development of a district hospital as part of the Agenda 111 project.

The chief oversaw the building of a wall around the Ejura Government Hospital, the installation of boreholes in more than ten settlements, and the development of a six-unit classroom block for the Ejura Anglican Primary School.

In less than eight years, the chief has also built the ultra-modern Divisional Police Headquarters, donated more than 600 acres of land to the Ghana Prisons Service, facilitated the construction of a military base at Ejura by giving the government free land and houses, provided a seven-bedroom apartment for GNFS officials, among other things.

While securing employment for hundreds of young people in the municipality, Barimah Osei Hwedie II has also funded and is still paying for many tertiary students’ fees.

Residents stated all the initiatives described are supported by evidence and are easily accessible in the communities, adding that anyone wishing to see can tour the community and see it for themselves. However, they were unable to name all the chief’s groundbreaking accomplishments.
