Zambia’s Parliamentary Broadcasting Department on 5-day study visit to Ghana

Staff from the Zambian National Assembly’s Parliamentary Broadcasting Department are in Ghana on a 5-day benchmark research visit with their counterparts here.

The goal of the working visit is to share expertise on how to improve and promote efficiency and effectiveness in managing the public and media relations of Parliaments.

In order to better on their work as broadcasters, the tour will also give officers new insights on Parliamentary broadcasting and help them identify areas for development.

The group was taken through a general overview of how the Public Affairs Department works in collaboration with other departments. During a tour of the Audio-visual unit of the department, the group expressed great interest in the sign language initiative which they indicated worth implementing at their National Assembly.

The Director of Administration, Mad. Sylvia Aidoo, speaking to the group on behalf of the Director Public Affairs, Mad. kate Addo urged the group totgeir skills and knowledge on how to administer and manage internal and external communications for the sustainable dissemination of information in a deliberate and consistent manner. Mad. Aidoo indicated the need for both departments to collaborate in order to meet their ultimate expectations.

The Deputy Director of Public Affairs, Mad. Margaret Ampah Donkor took the group through some key functions of the Department.

Members of the group are Ms. S.C Kwaimbe, Principal Clerk-Public and International Relations, Ms. Kashimbi Limata-Principal Clerk of Parliamentary Broadcasting, Mr. Temwa Nyirenda-Deputy Principal Clerk of International Relations, Ms. Sibonelo Jere-Senior Public Relations Officer, Mr. Posent Ndovi- Senior Assistant Presenter, Mr. Esau Mbewe- Technician, Mr. Stanley Phiri- Programmes Director, Ms. Monica Kunda- Senior Graphics Artist Assistant and Mr. Emmanuel Kaluba-Camera Person.
