John Dramani Mahama, the flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), claims that supporting Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is a vote in favor of ongoing economic hardship.

Speaking at an Aowin constituency community engagement in Enchi, Mr. Mahama asserted that voting Bawumia would be tantamount to endorsing bad government, pointing to the economic difficulties that had existed throughout Bawumia’s time as vice president.

“A vote for the Bawumia means you are happy with the mismanagement of our finances, our increased debt stock, and the current sufferings. And so if you are displeased with what is happening you’ll have to vote them out of office,” former President Mahama said.

Former President Mahama reaffirmed the idea that the economy was difficult for Ghanaians, especially businessmen who were facing slow business growth. He joked that the elephant, which is the symbol of the ruling New Patriotic Party, should have been in the forests rather than in the towns where people live.
