In the just concluded general elections of 2024, Nana Kwame Bediako, better known by his stage name Cheddar, has emerged as the front-runner among smaller party candidates.

Cheddar received 84,478 votes, or 0.75% of the total votes cast, on behalf of the New Force movement.

On December 9, 2024, the results were made public by the Electoral Commission (EC).

In an election that was dominated by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), this development demonstrated that Cheddar’s performance was a noteworthy accomplishment for smaller parties.

The following outcomes were noted by other candidates from smaller parties:

Daniel Augustus Lartey Jr. received 16,673 votes, or 0.15 percent. Christian Andrews received 16,461 votes, or 0.15 percent. Kofi Akpaloo received 5,219 votes, or 0.09%. Muhammad Frimpong received 4,413 votes, or 0.04%. The vote for Nana Akosua Frimpomaa was 23,397 (0.21%).

Hassan Ayariga received 17,461 votes, or 0.16 percent. Koranteng Kofi received 3,320 votes, or 0.03%. The vote total for George Twum Barimah-Adu was 3,091 (0.02%). Alan Kyerematen received 31,202 votes, or 0.28 percent.

Together, these contenders created an impression in a contest in which NDC former president John Dramani Mahama won 6,328,397 votes, or 56.55% of the total valid votes, to become the next president.

NPP candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who received 4,657,304 votes (41.61%), came in second to him.

Cheddar became a prominent player in Ghanaian politics after his The New Force campaign, which emphasized social change, economic empowerment, and innovation, struck a chord with some voters, especially young people.
