The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has garnered the endorsement of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who has expressed his steadfast faith in Bawumia’s leadership.

During the party’s manifesto launch on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) in Takoradi, President Akufo-Addo gave a speech in which he reflected on their 16-year journey together.

“Sixteen years ago, Mahamudu Bawumia and I first met and decided to join our lives together. I can say that there’s not one day that I’ve regretted joining my life to his and his to mine,” President Akufo-Addo stated.

He commended Bawumia for his patriotism, honesty, commitment, and determination, attributes that have made their collaboration productive in both administration and opposition.

Additionally, President Akufo-Addo urged Ghanaians to give Bawumia and Matthew Opoku Prempeh, his running mate, the reins of government for the next eight years.

“I don’t think there’s anybody in this country better placed to testify about the capacity of our presidential ticket than me, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo,” he stated.

He underlined that the integrity, fortitude, and resolve of the leaders guiding plans, policies, and initiatives ultimately determine their success.

“At the end of the day, plans, policies, and programmes, if there’s no character, if there’s no strength, if there’s no determination of will on the part of the people involved, they just remain plans and programmes,” stated Akufo-Addo.

The populace was reassured by Akufo-Addo that Bawumia will keep all of his commitments.

“Whatever commitments he has made before you and before the people of Ghana, I can put my hand on my heart and say he will deliver on each one of those commitments,” he added.
