Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, Ghana’s Vice President, has ordered the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) to build the Ejuraman Anglican Senior High School SHS in the Ashanti Region an ultramodern dining hall facility.
The order was given in response to a request for a permanent dining hall for the school made by Barima Osei Hwedie II, the leader of the Ejura Traditional Area.
The school’s dining hall’s roof was ripped off by a powerful wind on Monday, February 6,2023, leaving it without a location for eating activities.
About 50 pupils were hurt and had to be treated at the Ejura Government as a result.
On February 10, 2023, Ejurahene Barima Osei Hwedie II and other local traditional chiefs paid a visit to the school to console the pupils.
After the visit, Barimah Osei Hwedie II thanked Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia for responding promptly to the request in an interview with Ghanatodayonline.com reporter Jacob Agyenim Boateng.
“I am highly grateful to the vice president Dr Mahamadu Bawumia and the government for the immediate support to the school “.
“With his intervention, the school will now get an ultramodern dining hall facility and i must say we are very happy about this development”
“I had to run the vice president for help when the incident occurred, it was very disturbing but we take consolation in the fact that, no student died and now that the Vice president has offered to help, be rest assured that the school will surely get a new dinning hall”.
“We are expecting some consultatants to inspect the the project site after which the contract will be deployed to beging the construction work”.
