President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been accused of being insensitive to the plight of Ghanaians by Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the general secretary of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), for failing to listen requests for a reshuffle of his appointments.

In an interview given on August 8, 2022, while on a visit to the Northern Region, President Akufo-Addo shrugged down suggestions for a reorganization of his appointees.

He claimed that his ministers had performed admirably and that there was no need to rearrange them.
He made this declaration in spite of mounting pressure from civil society organizations, opposition parties, and some members of his own party to rearrange his ministers for greater effectiveness.

In an interview with Mr. Nketia on the Class Morning Show on Class91.3FM, Mr. Nketia expressed his conviction that the President is acting in contravention to the NPP’s interests and is sailing against the wind.

On Tuesday, August 9, 2022, Mr. Nketia said “I realize that he’s saying the precise things that will put him in opposition because he is sailing against the wind.Since what Nana Addo said yesterday was the contrary of what Ghanaians believe, he is currently sailing against the wind. If you have a leader who is doing this, his days are numbered.

According to him, “many Ghanaians have stated in study after survey that the country is heading in the wrong direction.”
“When they say a country is going in the wrong direction, what does it mean? The leadership is steering the country in the wrong direction. We want to go to Aflao and we are headed toward Takoradi road, completely wrong direction, so, if Ghanaians have said this, and they are saying that let’s change direction and you are all over praising the driver that ‘speed up we are on the right course’ what does it mean?”
“It means that you are going further and further away from the wishes of the ordinary people.”

“I’ve always said that before punishing someone, the gods first make them angry.
If someone wants to destroy Ghana and can get the wrong thoughts into our president’s brain, they won’t even need to send people there to do it since the president will take the nation down with him because despite numerous surveys suggesting otherwise, he stands by his position.

Take a look at this notion of his reshuffle; even throughout his speech to their Congress, members of their own party were yelling “reshuffle, reshuffle, reshuffle.”

Since the NDC wasn’t present, what would be the easiest way to get you fired if you were to claim that your ministers are the best but your own party claims the opposite?Asiedu Nketia added.
