Ellembelle Police Commander interdicted, DCE arrested as Police recover missing excavator

ACP Dodzi Hlordzi, the commander of the Ellembele Divisional Police, has been detained.

On September 5th, he was detained.

The Ellembelle District Mining Committee and the District Security Council joined forces on Tuesday, August 30, to confiscate two excavators that were being used for illegal mining just meters from the Nkroful Agriculture Senior High School.

But two days later, the two devices vanished.

Eventually, charges and denials of accusations began to fly between Kwasi Bonzo, the district chief executive for Ellembelle in the Western Region, and the police.

He was later taken into custody.

He attempted to determine whether an excavator being moved was one of the two that vanished after being seized by the Ellembelle District Mining Committee at an unauthorized mining site when he was apprehended a few meters from the Axim intersection.

Ghanatodayonline.com has discovered that the DCE received a tip that a brand-new excavator had been seen being accompanied on the Ellembelle road while he was in route to Sekondi for a radio program.

He followed the machine with the traveling crew to a location after the Ankobra Beach Resort, but they were unable to stop it. They continued.

While crossing a few rumble strips to get to the Axim junction, the vehicle carrying the machine slowed down.

The excavator is said to have been one of those missing there, according to the DCE.

He and his team were able to halt the car as a result.

Some plain-clothes officers in a white pick-up and a Nissan patrol car pulled up as he was asking the driver where he was taking the excavator, sparking a conflict.

Ghanatodayonline.com learns throughout the exchanges that the DCE was assaulted physically, shackled, and shoved into the waiting white pick-up.

The Western Region Police Command received word that the DCE had been apprehended.

POLICE RECOVER ONE OF THE MISSING ELLEMBELLE EXCAVATORS, DCE AND THREE OTHERS ARRESTED FOR OBSTRUCTION

The Police through days of intelligence operations yesterday 6th September, 2022 retrieved one of the excavators that was reported missing from Ellembelle.

A team of operations and intelligence officers working day and night discovered the missing excavator several kilometres into a forest within the Ellembelle District.

While the team of police officers were escorting the excavator to Takoradi, at the Axim Junction, the DCE of Ellembelle, Mr. Kwasi Bonzo organised and led some thugs to attack the police and obstruct the operation. The DCE and three others were therefore arrested accordingly.

Investigation continues to recover the other excavator and arrest all those behind it to face justice.
